Chad Slate How Does Vitamin D Deficiency Impact HIV?

By Mark Cichocki, R.N., About.com Though it isn't unique to people infected with the virus, studies suggest that HIV and vitamin D deficiency often go hand-in-hand. This is worrisome because vitamin D is an important nutrient for bone health, calcium balance and immune function. People living with HIV and vitamin D deficiency may experience bone disorders, low CD4 counts and increased AIDS progression, so doctors are taking a closer look at vitamin D levels in all of their HIV patients. Mark Reflection

Apart from the many challenges being newly diagnosed (3rd week), is to love the Lord with all that is in me. This morning I read in Mark 12:30-31, to love God with all your heart, mind, soul and strength. I reflected on how easy it is to love the things (or people) that bring pleasure, comfort and some measure of happiness, though fleeting. However, not to love God first, is not to fully experience a pure and holy love for others as He intended. So often my investment in a self focused love mad… Continue

Ike Idegbema Our Consciences:God's built-in warning system

Our Consciences: God’s built-in warning system I have come across many people who have left the church because of the ill-treatment they received from Church members and Church leaders. Sometimes the reasons some gives are so petty that one could easily tell that they are not willing to be devoted followers of Christ. At other times the reasons are so genuine and touching that I have wonder if such treatment could ever come from those who claim to be followers of Christ. Many have been su… Continue

Ike Idegbema He walks with us

He walks with us Text: Luke 24:13-28 “As they walked along they were talking about everything that had happened. As they talked and discussed these things, Jesus Himself suddenly came and began walking with them. But God kept them from recognizing Him”. Luke 24:14-16As believers, we are sometimes faced with challenges that we find difficult to explain. It gets worse when all that we hope for as believers comes under attack. It does not happen because we have committed any sin, neither is… Continue

Ike Idegbema Godly visualisation- Seeing your problem through the eyes of God

SEEING SOLUTIONS AND NOT PROBLEM BIBLE TEXT: 2KINGS 6:15-17, Eph. 1:17-23 In the cause of waiting for God to speak when it’s like He is silent, especially when we so desparately needs in the area of healing of our bodies, many Christians tend focus all their attention only on the problems, and all they see is problem, impossible, not going to work, fear and uncertainty. And the devil will do everything at this point to magnify those seemingly difficult situations. But I wish to suggest that y… Continue

Ike Idegbema Living the resurrected life

Living the resurrected life Going through the account of the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ again this Easter period I was touched by the account in Mark 16 and John 20, particularly Mark 16: 7 where it says “But go, tell his disciples and Peter, He goeth before you into Galilee: there shall ye see him, as he said unto you” (RV) Touched because the angel specifically mentioned Peter who denied Jesus Christ on the night he was arrested. Peter blew it by denying Jesus as was predicted, but… Continue

Wilhelmina Olley MUST JESUS BEAR THE CROSS ALONE

MUST JESUS BEAR THE CROSS ALONE AND ALL THE WORLD GO FREE ? NO THERE’S A CROSS FOR EVERYONE AND THERE’S A CROSS FOR ME. In the mid 90’s I heard Miles Monroe speak so passionately about life purpose and it moved me to want to know what the purpose for my life was. The next day I began to search for my purpose in life. What did God create me to be? I can remember reading a book by Benny Hinn in 1995 and coming to the part of the book where it asked the question “Can you pay the price.” I remembe… Continue
