My name is Wilhelmina Olley, a 47-year-old wife, mother, grandmother, devout Christian, and lifelong District resident. I used to think that HIV was far removed from me until I was diagnosed with the virus a little more than a decade ago. However, I was unaware of where I contracted HIV. The winter my life changed forever had been long and cold. Prior to the diagnosis I can recall getting up at five in the morning to go to work and thinking that I had caught a bug that I just couldn't get rid of. I eventually went to the doctor, figuring I might get a prescription for my symptoms. But when my blood work came back with irregularities, the doctor suggested I take an HIV test. While I waited for the results, Dec.1998, I celebrated Christmas, with my family. Three days later, a male physician whose manner was as chilly as the weather delivered crushing news. I wasn't dealing with just with just a cold he said. I was HIV positive
Thank you for sharing your incredible testimony, Wilhelmina. May God continue to blossom your minstry as you venture on to each and every church. I'll be praying for your ministry, "BREAK THE SILENCE, TOUR THE CHURCHES" GBU
