He Intends Victory

My name is Patrick Onyango Oguta, I am the last born of children in the family of Onyango. I was born in 1972 in a small village called Korando, Kisumu District. In the family we were five children 3 are girls and 2 are boys. My father died immediately I was born. The three girls have been married, two have died and one of my brothers. So am the only one who remained in the home of Onyango.

I did my Kenya Certificate of Primary Education in 1988 and passed well but I couldn't continue with Secondary level because of lack of school fees, so I decided to join my uncle in Eldoret town in the year 1999 to train as a carpenter, the training took two years then later I joined Kibiyu saw mill in Eldoret as a carpenter and that was 2002.
In the year 2004, I married my first girl friend in Eldoret and God blessed us with a baby boy called David Ochieng. In 2006 got another boy called Kelvin Ochieng and after a short while my wife got sick and died and by then we did not know our status.

After burying my wife in our home land I came back to Eldoret and then in March the same year my wife died I decided to know my status and I was found HIV positive. At first I was worried that I was going to die and leave my children as orphans but on 23rd, January 2007, I joined a support group therapy called Victory Care and Support (He Intends Victory) and by then I had so much stigma but as i kept attending the support group i came to realize that living with HIV was not the end of life.

In the support group we began a merry go round so did elections and I was elected to be the secretary of the group. Since then I have learned a lot, the group has given me morally to talk openly and share with others how to live positively, right now I can share with others groups what HIV is, the other thing I learned is having a relationship with Jesus and I am now a born again Christian and when I speak with my friends I have no stigma. At the moment visiting others who are living with HIV/AIDS is the most important thing, I pray with them.

I can say in conclusion that this support group has made me a man and a half under the management of Irene Mwololo and our Director Martha Ambani, and all i can say is God bless Martha and Irene to keep on teaching us.

Patrick,
It is so amazing to see the way God has moved in your life! My prayer for you is that you continue to put your faith & trust in God and allow him to work miracles, not only in your life, but in those lives you touch. You will have a profound effect on others and they will see what God has done for you and in turn, that will give them inner peace and increase their faith in God. God bless you Patrick!

Thank You Patrick for the decision you have made- To be Believe in the LORD Jesus. Jesus Loves you and Your family. It is because of this LOVE that he died for all of us. Now that you are born again, Walk in the light. Forget the past and move forward with GOD. Do not look for the things (blessings of GOD) and forget about HIM. Do not look for riches or healing alone. Look for the GIVER and the HEALER. When you find HIM you will get your all. For He is ''all in all''. Let the blessings of Reuben as declared by Moses in Deuteronomy 33 be yours ... that you shall live, and not die. Your men shall not be few.

For 2009: May the LORD GOD ALMIGHTY crown this year with HIS Goodness for you in all facets of your life. Psalms 65:11.

Continually declare His Word Upon your Life and Destiny. You are in the good hands of Martha. The Lord shall continually bring people to you help in time of need.

In all things believe in HIM. Do no look to the people. Look unto God. People may fail you. God won't. He is the only One you need at all times. Read the WORD of daily. Pray without ceasing.... in the Spirit. Join a strong fellowship of believers.

Hi Ogota, this is so good that God has kept you and helped you even after undergoing such loss. It is only by his mighty love and peace that you are able to write down what you do and have the will to go on, and I believe he has also brought people like Martha and Irene your way to help you. Remember that friends are God's way of taking care of us. And Fear Not, cos its is written that Fear comes from the Devil.

"And when Peter was come down out of the ship, he walked on the water, to go to Jesus. But when he saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid" (Matt. 14:29-30).

See if this scenario sounds familiar: You're in the midst of a trial, but you're believing right, talking right, and acting right. Then circumstances pull your eyes off Jesus and onto the problem. Suddenly, your faith is replaced with fear, and you begin to lose ground.

That's what happened to Peter. When he stepped out of the boat and began walking on the water, he was believing right, hearing right, and acting right. But the minute Peter took his eyes off Jesus and looked back on the problem, his faith stopped working. His eyes started looking in the wrong direction, and fear entered in.

People deal with many types of fears - fears of accidents, of diseases, of death, and so forth.

I used to be afraid of everything. But then I got a revelation of Psalm 91. If I didn't know Psalm 91 worked today, I would never live today.

But I alwas will, because He's given His angels charge over me to keep me in all my ways (Ps. 91:11).

Sometimes Christians make the mistake of just rebuking the fear without replacing it with anything. Jesus said, "Fear not; only believe" (Mark 5:36). In other words, He was saying, "If you want to believe God, you have to let your belief drive out the fear."

You see, you can't operate in fear and faith at the same time in the same situation. Now, some people say, "I'm believing God, but I'm a little afraid." But that's impossible. They're either operating in faith or fear, but not both of them at the same time. When fear enters in, faith goes out.

How do you strengthen your belief and get rid of fear? Belief comes by hearing God's Word. As you build your belief in God's Word in a situation, the power in that Word will drive out the fear and enable you to keep your eyes where they belong - on Jesus.

Patrick, I know there are times that all seems lost, in the dark small hours of the night, when all else is asleep and you feel like you are all alone, but know, He said he shall never abandon us, Ever. Be encouraged and live fully, because that is what He intended for us, ever since the day he created us in his image.
